In a recent report released by the Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis at George Washington University School of Business, Atlanta was ranked No. 8 among the country’s top 30 metropolitan areas with regard to walkable real estate development.
Having long been characterized by its sprawl, the Atlanta housing market has seen a marked shift towards more walkable real estate developments. Although it will require investment in the expansion and maintenance of the MARTA rail system, the trend towards a walkable urban environment in Atlanta should translate into continued increases in real estate values for neighborhoods located inside Interstate 285, also known as the Perimeter.
